Open House

There will be an Open House at the museum on Saturday, June 20th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This is being held in connection with the Portland High School Alumni which is meeting that evening.

Booth at the Jay County Fair

FAIR BOOTH
This year’s Jay County Fair will be held from Saturday, June 20th through Saturday, July 4. The Historical Society will have a booth in the air conditioned Bubp Building this year. We will have a display related to the 250th birthday of our country.

Festival Theme Announced-Celebrating 250 Years of the U.S.A.

In keeping with the anniversary of the birth of our country, the theme for this year’s 22nd Annual Jay County Heritage Festival is “Celebrating 250 Years of the U.S.A.” The event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 26th and 27th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

A Monthly Program Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23 at the museum. A program on the Little Salamonie Church will be presented by JCHS board members Deana Powell and Dylan Lewis.

A piece of the “Big Blue Bridge” which was torn down and replaced about three years ago is on display. The bridge crosses State Highway 26 at the East edge of Portland.

The bright red “Only Jay in the USA” t-shirts have been selling well. An order for eight shirts was sent to California before Christmas.
